…fun recent project!…

my dear friend val got these floral tattoos for her scalp from me 2 years ago. yesterday we added more! all drawn on, which is an incredible amount of trust on val’s part. we still have more leafiness to add to the willow branches but i am already so happy with the result…helping the new and the old flow together is always such an exciting thing for me.

“val grew up with trichotillomania, a disorder she struggled with since she was 10 years old. she tried to cover & hide her baldness in many ways for 20 years - wigs and weaves included. as a way to overcome her fear of shame, rid herself of the compulsion, & see more possibilities in herself, val shaved her head & has been rocking being bald. recently she had been wanting to embrace it even further by adorning her lovely head with some floral tattoos”
