Spring is springing…finallyyyy repotted all my houseplants and braided my unruly daffodil greens in my garden (a hotly debated gardening practice 😅…but I think it’s a bit better than just lopping them off!) And braiding greenery is so calming :)

Broken Dreams (the art & record shop I co-own) is celebrating its 4th birthday this month!! We are throwing it the birthday party it so deserves complete with vinyl DJs all day (11-7p), raffling off some fun art (including a tattoo gift certificate from me!), refreshments, and general merriment! Come help us celebrate! Saturday 5/16!

Broken Dreams co-owner Jesse Sugar Moore and I have been making mosaics again, but this time with stained glass! This piece was commissioned by a dear friend for a co-worker’s retirement present. We really love working in glass. Lots more on the way soon (3 new ones will make their debut at the shop’s birthday party) and taking commissions for more :)

…my favorite ikebana i arranged last month…
this was my first heika (tall vase arrangement made without any kenzan/floral frog…just counterbalancing & making natural stilts of sorts with other plant material). it’s incredibly difficult at first and i only felt like crying a couple times so i considered that a victory.

Eyvind Earle (USA, 1916-2000)
Eyvind Earle was an artist, author & illustrator especially known for his contribution to the illustration of many of the 1950s Disney films, especially the styling/background/colors for Sleeping Beauty. But for me it’s his trees and depictions of the landscapes of Big Sur that are kinda devastatingly beautiful. I stumbled across his later oil paintings & serigraphs several years ago and they kind of forever changed me. More of his work here.
